Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis

PREIMPLANTATION GENETIC DIAGNOSIS - CYSTIC FIBROSIS 2017

The molecular preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) EQA scheme mimics the testing of a couple wishing to undergo PGD testing. There are two stages involved in this EQA scheme; Stage 1 is a feasibility study and Stage 2 assesses single/six cell testing. Stage 1 involves the distribution of DNA samples which the participants are required to perform a work-up/feasibility study to determine if the laboratory can offer PGD to the EQA couple. If the laboratory is able to provide PGD then they are automatically entered into Stage 2 of the EQA. This second part involves the distribution of lymphocyte cells which mimic theembryo cells to be tested. Laboratories can request either single cells to test or tubes containing six cells.

In order to maximise the EQA available to laboratories providing PGD then the molecular disease is rotated.

PREIMPLANTATION GENETIC DIAGNOSIS - ARRAY/NGS EQA 2017

This EQA is provided by in collaboration with Cytogenetic External Quality Assessment Service and has been developed to cover polar body testing, blastomere testing and trophectoderm testing by arrays and/or next generation sequencing.

Laboratories can participate choose which aspect of this pilot EQA they would like to participate in. Also the blastomere testing and trophectoderm testing by arrays and/or next generation sequencing will encompass options to test for translocations and/or aneuploidies. Once you have registered then the Scheme will contact you for further information.

PREIMPLANTATION GENETIC DIAGNOSIS EQA PARTICIPANTS MEETING 2016

We are pleased to have held a Preimplantation Genetics Diagnosis (PGD) External Quality Assurance (EQA) Participants’ meeting in Maastricht, Netherlands on Friday 15th April, 2016 from 13.00h to 17.00h.

The meeting gave feedback on two PGD EQA schemes provided during 2015, a summary of the two pilot EQAs provided in the field of PGD and included a discussion on the key issues to be addressed in the drafting of Best Practice Guidelines for PDG by NGS and Karyomapping. For information, the agenda can be accessed here - PGD Participants Meeting 2016 - agenda and registration form.doc
